Panthers no match for Gilmer Bobcats, 61-35

The Gilmer Bobcats earned their first region basketball win in commanding fashion. GHS hosted Ridgeland last Tuesday, and the Panthers were out of the game by the end of the first quarter.

GHS Lady Cats cruise past Ridgeland, 69-25

The Gilmer Lady Cats did everything right versus Ridgeland. GHS hosted the Panthers last Tuesday, and the Cats thrived defensively to fuel their offense. After a somewhat competitive opening quarter, Gilmer put the game away ahead of the half and rolled to a 69-25 win.

CCMS ends regular season with 7 wins

Clear Creek Middle School hit the basketball court for league matchups against Lumpkin and Pickens counties. The Lady Cats were in Lumpkin County last Monday, and the seventh-graders lost 33-26.

Gilmer wrestlers earn 4 more wins

Gilmer High earned four more wrestling victories at two events. The GHS Bobcats were at Murray County last Wednesday, and the senior-laden Indians found themselves on the losing side, 40-36.  Gilmer headed to the North Murray Duals last Saturday and finished second.

Adairsville pulls away from Cats late, 40-33

The Gilmer Lady Cats continue to battle offensive struggles through the early portion of the season. GHS hosted the Adairsville Tigers last Friday for its first region matchup of the season.

Cats fall to Tigers in region opener

The Gilmer Bobcats had issues with the taller Adairsville Tigers to start region play. The Cats hosted AHS last Friday, and the Tigers led from start to finish. Adairsville took a three-point lead at the half, and it expanded over the final two quarters as Gilmer lost, 63-43.

2024 Gilmer Sports Hall of Fame inductees celebrated

The Gilmer Sports Hall of Fame’s class of 2024 was inducted last Friday. Its latest members include the late Terry West and Joyce Marie Dover Mulazzi (third from left). Accepting on behalf of West were Ronnie West, Landon West, Stuart West, Lindsey Giles, Thomas Giles, Woody Giles and J.T. Giles.

Team Cartecay caps successful season

Team Cartecay capped off its 2024 Season with a trip to Georgia Cycling’s MTB Fest and Peach State Championship.  The event was held Oct. 26-27 at Kingston Downs in Rome, and the event featured team relay races for coaches and students alike.

GHS swimming ‘Plunges’ back into pool

The Tiger Plunge was the latest stop for Gilmer High swimmers. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats traveled to Adairsville High School last Saturday for the 12-team meet. Bobcat Cheyne Smith was the top GHS point scorer at the event, and he tallied 30.

Clear Creek Middle School wrestling bests Pickens, 66-30

The Clear Creek Bobcats took on a pair of league foes on the wrestling mat. CCMS welcomed Dawson County and Pickens to the Noah Harris Wrestling Center last Wednesday, and the host Bobcats posted a 1-1 record.
