Bobcats win two straight

The Gilmer High Bobcats went into Thanksgiving break with two more victories. GHS was in North Forsyth last Monday and Tuesday to secure a pair of wins over private schools. First up was Horizon Chastain Academy, and GHS shook off a sluggish start and came away with a 54-43 win.
Gilmer’s Paula Robertson finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds versus Sprayberry.

Lady Cats look to get back on track

The Gilmer High Lady Cats closed out Pickens’ Thanksgiving tournament with a pair of losses. GHS took the court against the host Dragonettes last Monday. Pickens’ third quarter was a bright spot in a game where points were at a premium, and the Dragonettes won, 38-18.

Jones, Terceros take first place

Gilmer High wrestlers walked into a thorny situation and came away with 13 tournament placers. Gilmer girls attended the Briar Patch tournament at Putnam County High School last Tuesday, and they squared off against 20 teams.

Team Cartecay finishes 4th at conference championship

Yonah Nature Preserve Trails hosted the East Conference Georgia Cycling Association Championship Oct. 19th. Team Cartecay traveled with 16 well-prepared athletes ready to tackle the fast and undulating Conference Championship Course.

CCMS wrestling wins 2 matches

Clear Creek Middle School wrestlers claimed two more league wins. The CCMS Bobcats were at Fannin County Nov. 14 and clipped the Rebels for a 45-42 victory. Clear Creek hosted Union County Nov. 19 and crushed the Panthers, 72-18.

GHS Lady Cats rout West Forsyth, 74-29

The Gilmer High Lady Cats had their mettle tested  in the home opener. GHS hosted Murray County last Thursday, and the No. 3 ranked Indians pulled away from the Cats in the second half. Murray’s strong third quarter propelled it to a 52-43 victory.

Bobcats roll past Murray

The Gilmer Bobcats snatched a nonregion win on the basketball court. GHS hosted Murray County last Thursday for its second game of the season. After an evenly-played first half, MCHS began to fade over the final two quarters and the Bobcats came away with a 61-44 win.

GHS swims in Calhoun

Gilmer High swimmers returned to the pool for a five-team meet in Calhoun. The Lady Cats secured a top-10 finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay last Thursday when the team of Esther Bowman, Lana Ginger, Evan May and Remy May finished in 2:34.80 for eighth.
