GHS was in action for a pair of home games following Christmas. Fannin County (11-2 overall), the No. 3 ranked Class A team, was in town last Monday.

The Gilmer Bobcats brought home some hardware headed into the break.
GHS defeated host Fannin County for the Piedmont Mountainside Holiday Classic title last Saturday. The Cats bookended the second and third quarters with better shooting in their 62-53 victory.

The Cats were in Fannin County last Saturday to wrap up the Piedmont Mountainside Holiday Classic, and the host Lady Rebels held on at the end.

Gilmer girls defend home turf, win tourney

Gilmer turned away all comers to claim the tournament crown.
GHS hosted the 18-team Gilmer Girls Bobcat Bash last Saturday, and took first place with room to spare. Gilmer’s champions included Leticia Tercero (145 pounds) and Amayah Jones (155). GHS outpaced second-place Cedartown, 152.5-105.

Gilmer High wrestlers took the mat twice ahead of Christmas.
The Bobcats made their way to Forsyth Central last Friday and fell to the host Bulldogs, 46-34. GHS also met Fannin County, and the Rebels were handed a 72-13 defeat by their northern neighbors.

The Gilmer Lady Cats defeated a familiar foe to begin the Piedmont Mountainside Christmas Tournament.
GHS was in Fannin County last Tuesday for the opening round, and former region opponent Lumpkin County found itself on the losing side.

Christmas came early for Lumpkin County.
The Indians gladly accepted a “win” last Tuesday against the Gilmer Bobcats that they did not earn.
Two points were erroneously given to LCHS, and no one in the Indians’ camp pointed out the obvious blunder by its own scorer.

CCMS knocked out of league basketball tournament in semifinals

Clear Creek Middle School closed out its basketball season.
The semifinals of the Mountain League tournament were held last Monday, and the CCMS Bobcats and Lady Cats were all defeated.

Gilmer Bobcat wrestlers continued their reign over Highway 515.
GHS hosted the 515 Classic last Thursday, as the northern corridor continues to thrive on the mat. The 19-time state champion Bobcats have gotten by this season on grit and hard work, and both were on display at the event.
