Seventh-grade Lady Cats’ season ends in semifinals

An overtime win in the Mountain League basketball tournament allowed the seventh-grade Lady Cats to extend their basketball season. Clear Creek Middle School met the Dawson County Tigers in the opening round last Tuesday and CCMS came away with a 46-45 win.

Pickens ousts 8th grade Lady Cats

The Clear Creek Lady Cats met the Pickens Dragonettes in the opening round of the eighth grade Mountain League basketball tournament last week. CCMS was the lower seed, and the two met at Union County Middle School.

Dragons eliminate 8th grade Bobcats from league tourney

The eighth-grade Bobcats at Clear Creek Middle School had their basketball season cut short in the semifinals of the Mountain League tournament. CCMS entered the event as a No. 4 seed and topped the No. 5 seeded Fannin County Rebels in the first round, 43-27.

Bobcats’ state bid ends in 2nd

The Gilmer High School Bobcats have advanced to the duals state finals in 11 straight seasons. The first seven resulted in state championships for GHS, and over the last four, the Bobcats have settled for second place.

GHS Lady Cats hand out two more region defeats

Gilmer High’s unblemished region record continued last week as two more teams fell to the Lady Cats. GHS was on the road Tuesday at Heritage and buried the Generals early to come away with a 49-32 victory.

Bobcats make it 8 in a row

For the eighth consecutive season, the Gilmer High Bobcats are region dual champions. Gilmer hosted the seven-team wrestling event last Saturday, which also served as a qualifier for this week’s state duals tournament.

The Gilmer Bobcats took care of business against the Southeast Whitfield Raiders for a region basketball victory. The Bobcats made the road trip last Tuesday for their only game of the week.
