GHS Bobcat, Lady Cat swimmers finish 1st, 2nd

Gilmer High swimmers were in Adairsville for a meet last Thursday, and the Bobcats placed first while the Lady Cats were second. GHS swimmers won four individual events, which included Connor Mohon in the 200-freestyle (2:15.62) and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.78).

Gilmer Bobcats hang tough at Cleveland Duals

Gilmer High School wrestlers tested their mettle at last Saturday’s Cleveland, Tenn., Duals. The annual Volunteer State event is one of the toughest on Gilmer’s schedule, and the Bobcats competed in a field of 16 schools.

Clear Creek takes league duals, traditional titles

Clear Creek defended its league wrestling titles once again last week. The Bobcats attended the annual league duals Friday in Union County and returned the following day for the traditional portion of the event. Both days ended with CCMS as the top team in the field of seven schools.

7th grade Bobcats win 2 more league games

Clear Creek Middle School met Pickens and White County for league basketball games last week. The seventh-grade Bobcats traveled to Pickens Monday and defeated the Dragons 50-26 and the eighth-grade Cats lost, 49-29.

Gilmer High Bobcats split region slate

The Gilmer Bobcats played a pair of region basketball games last week and posted a 1-1 record. Gilmer began the week Tuesday and lost to the Heritage Generals at home, 71-29. The Bobcats traveled to Ridgeland three days later and defeated the Panthers, 66-53.

The Panther Invitational is one of the top traditional wrestling tournaments on a yearly basis, and this season was no exception. Gilmer High School made its way to the Jackson County event last Friday and Saturday, and Caleb Waddell finished first in the 170-pound weight class.

GHS Lady Cats begin region schedule with victory vs. Southeast

The Gilmer Lady Cats returned to the court for a pair of basketball games last week. GHS began its region schedule Tuesday at home against the Southeast Whitfield Raiders and shrugged off a slow start before rolling to a 57-41 win. The Cats were on the road two days later in Murphy, N.C.

Gilmer Bobcats down Southeast, Murphy

The Gilmer Bobcats began last week by kicking off their region basketball schedule with a victory. GHS hosted the Southeast Whitfield Raiders Tuesday and overcame foul trouble and shaky defense for a 68-57 victory.

Bobcats take down Rebs

The Gilmer High School Bobcats delivered a basketball loss to the Fannin County Rebels on their home court. GHS traveled to Blue Ridge last Tuesday for the final game of the ETC/Piedmont Mountainside Tip-Off Tournament.
