Lady Cats drop tournament opener to Baylor, 42-39

Just over a week removed from a 94-point performance that set a Gilmer Lady Cat record, they scored their fewest points of the season. GHS faced the Baylor School Red Raiders in the first round of the Carpet Capital Christmas Classic last Friday and points were at a premium.

Hot-shooting Hebron Christian hits threes to down Bobcats

The Gilmer Bobcats were in Dalton last Friday for the opening round of the Carpet Capital Christmas Classic. The eight-team event was held on the campus of Christian Heritage School, and GHS met the Hebron Christian Academy Lions.

Latest Gilmer Sports Hall of Fame class inducted

The Gilmer Sports Hall of Fame inducted it 2019 class last Friday at the Gilmer High gym. This year’s inductees include Amanda Parker (GHS class of 1999), Mark Pettit (’79) and the late 1st Lt. Noah Harris (’99). Parker lettered in basketball, softball, golf and track.

Gilmer High grapplers win Hwy. 515 Classic

Gilmer, Pickens, Union, Towns and Fannin high schools gathered last week for the inaugural Highway 515 Classic. The dual tournament was held Wednesday at the Gilmer High School gym, and the Bobcats celebrated their senior wrestlers.  GHS posted a 3-0 record to claim the first-place trophy.

Record-setting Cats trounce Pickens, 94-67

It was a record-setting scoring night for the Gilmer High School Lady Cats. GHS hosted archrival Pickens last Tuesday, and if not for some slow-down tactics at the end, the Cats may have hit triple digits on the scoreboard.

Gilmer Bobcats drop three straight

The Gilmer Bobcats suffered a frustrating home basketball loss to the Pickens Dragons last Tuesday. The evenly-played rivalry game came down to the final seconds. Bobcat miscues resulted in a 59-58 Dragon victory, and  Pickens students rushed the court in celebration after the final buzzer.

Clear Creek Lady Cats split with Dawson

The Clear Creek Middle School Lady Cats were at home last Monday to host the Dawson County Tigers for a pair of basketball games. The seventh-grade Cats took the court first and earned a 43-40 victory. The eighth-grade game followed and Dawson notched a 58-20 win.

Lady Cats rout Heritage, Ridgeland

The Gilmer High Lady Cats snagged two region wins to improve to 3-0 against Region 6-4A foes this season. GHS hosted Heritage last Tuesday and rocked the Generals for a 63-30 victory.

2019 sports hall of fame class set

The Gilmer Sports Hall of Fame will induct its 2019 class at Friday’s basketball games against LaFayette. Entering the hall of fame will be Amanda Parker (GHS class of 1999), the late 1st. Lt. Noah Harris (’99) and Mark Pettit (’79). Parker was a basketball, softball and golf letter winner.
