Morris Miller Parks

Morris Miller Parks, 86, of Ellijay, died Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born March 27, 1935, in Ellijay, to the late Clemont Morris and Edith Grace Miller Parks. He was a deacon and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay for 74 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Army.

Yolande A. Bechard

Yolande A. Bechard, 88, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at Piedmont Hospital in Jasper. She was born Sept. 26, 1932 in Lewiston, Maine. She is preceded in death by grandson, James Fourier in 2003.

Ed Lonzo Smith Jr.

Mr. Ed Lonzo Smith Jr., 52, of Talking Rock, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Piedmont Mountainside in Jasper. He was born in Cherokee County Oct. 2, 1968, to the late Ed Lonzo Smith Sr. and Thelma Lorene McArthur Smith. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with N.J Wilbanks Co.

Rev. James Lonnie Wright

The Rev. James Lonnie Wright, 69, of Ellijay, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Gilmer County July 22, 1952, to the late James Wright and Cleo Moss Wright.

Ms. Martha Nell Patterson

Ms. Martha Nell Patterson, 65, of Blue Ridge, died suddenly Saturday, July 24, 2021. She was born in Fannin County Jan. 11, 1956, to the late Havern Cecil Patterson and Dollie Mae Lowery Patterson Stepp.

William Andrew Gooch

William Andrew Gooch, 19, of Cherry Log, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born May 26, 2002, to William Anthony and Dawn Elizabeth Rice Gooch.

Mrs. Betty Jean Burgess Sanford

Mrs. Betty Jean Burgess Sanford, 86, of Ellijay, died Monday, July 26, 2021. She was born Aug. 23, 1934, to the late John Harvey and Myrtle Louise Starks Burgess, in Ellijay. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband, Bob Robert C.

Mrs. Orpha ‘Jean’ Henson

Mrs. Orpha “Jean” Henson, 86, of Ellijay died Friday, July 23, 2021. She was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Gilmer County, to the late Luther Allen and Willie Wishon Allen.  She worked at the Davenport Hosiery Mill as a sewing specialist for many years.

Jefferson Randall King

Mr. Jefferson Randall King, 58, of Ellijay, died Friday, July 23, 2021. He was born Oct. 29, 1962, in Cherokee County to the late JW ‘’Doc’’ King and Lillian King. He was a high school graduate and a carpenter, self-employed for many years.

Rodney Hall

Mr. Rodney Hall, 59, of Ellijay, died Thursday, July 15, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Pikeville, Ky., Nov. 30, 1961, to the late Willie T. Hall and Mary Belle Tackett Hall. He was a high school graduate and was employed as a mechanic.
