SSgt. Fred L. Phaby, USMC Ret.

SSgt. Fred L. Phaby, USMC Ret., died at home Friday, Aug. 27, 2021. Born in Moultrie, Jan. 15, 1944, he grew up in California, joined the military at age 17, and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 20 years of service, which included two tours in Vietnam.

Ms. Mary Ellen Kincaid Hancock

Ms. Mary Ellen Kincaid Hancock, 57, of Ellijay, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at Seasons Hospice in Cumming. She was born Dec. 22, 1963, in Pickens County, to Frank Kincaid and Minnie Sue Perry. She was a member of Black Knob Baptist Church.

William Brian Tuck

Mr. William Brian Tuck, 55, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Gilmer County Aug. 19, 1965, to the late James William Tuck and Waulene Williams Tuck. He worked for Gilmer County Schools as a custodian and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Nancy Smith Adams

Mrs. Nancy Smith Adams, 79, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Warner Robbins Dec. 9, 1941, to the late Charles Smith and Estelle Smith.

Mrs. Betty Hamrick

Mrs. Betty Hamrick, 74, of Chatsworth, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021. She was born in Gilmer County March 27, 1947, to the late Elbert Johnson and Lillie Pritchett. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Queen Carpet, and was a member of Flat Branch Baptist Church.

Charles Lawson Smith

Mr. Charles Lawson Smith, 75, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021. He was born in Gilmer County Oct. 21, 1945, to the late Howard Smith and Clara Keener Smith. He worked in the logging industry and was an avid fisherman.

James Robert Bryant

Mr. James Robert Bryant, 87, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, at his residence. He was a retired mechanic and was a member of Harvest Missionary Church. He was born in Carrollton, Oct. 31, 1933. He is preceded in death by parents; wife, Sara Bryant; and son, James Michael Bryant.

Mrs. Millie O’Donovan

Mrs. Millie O’Donovan, 77, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at her home with her family by her side. She was born July 9, 1944, in Chicago, Ill., to Martin and Martha Manz. She met John (Jack) Peter O’Donovan in Chicago and they married Feb. 13, 1965, at St. Gall’s Roman Catholic Church.

Ms. Misty Dawn Shouse

Ms. Misty Dawn Shouse, 41, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021. She was born in Seminole, Okla., Nov. 16, 1979, to Michael Sullinger and Donna Diane Shepard. She worked as a painter and cleaner.
