Morris Miller Parks, 86, of Ellijay, died Monday, July 26, 2021.
He was born March 27, 1935, in Ellijay, to the late Clemont Morris and Edith Grace Miller Parks.
He was a deacon and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay for 74 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Army.
He was the city of Ellijay walking mailman and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was also a member of the Ellijay Lions Club, Oak Bowery Masonic Lodge #81, Royal Arch, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Yarrab Temple Shrine and Coosawattee Shrine Club.
He is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Lisa Farmer Parks.
He is survived by wife of 61 years, Hilda Priest Parks, of Ellijay; daughter, Hilda Grace and Marshall Holcomb, of Free Home; son, Edgar Morris Parks, of Ellijay; grandchildren, Emily Grace Holcomb and Kyle Marshall Holcomb, Haley Nicole and Thomas Davis; and great-grandchildren, Blakely and Parker Davis.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
