Mrs. Brenda Dean Newton, 75, of Ellijay, died Monday, July 19, 2021, at Northside Cherokee in Canton due to complications from COVID-19. She was born April 28, 1946, in Danville, Va., to the late Rev. Henry Jay Moose and Anna Margaret Moose. She was a wonderful ray of sunshine to everyone she met.

The Rev. Emmett Burgess, loving husband and father, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the age of 88. He was born in Ellijay, to the late Glen Burgess and Mattie Davis Burgess. Being ordained at the age of 29, he spent a lifetime of serving God through music and ministry.

Mr. Marvin Smith, 78, of Talking Rock, died Friday, July, 23 2021, at his residence with family by his side. He was born June 11, 1943, in Pickens County, to the late Howard Smith and Clara Belle Keener. He was a timber cutter, logging for many, many years.

Mrs. Helen Ruth Newberry, 90, of Ellijay,  died Tuesday July 13, 2021. She was born April 28, 1931, in McCaysville, the daughter of Bice Green and Jane Tarpley Green. She worked at the hospital and nursing home for many years and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
