Mrs. Orpha “Jean” Henson, 86, of Ellijay died Friday, July 23, 2021.
She was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Gilmer County, to the late Luther Allen and Willie Wishon Allen.
She worked at the Davenport Hosiery Mill as a sewing specialist for many years. She was a member of Turniptown Baptist Church and loved singing in the church.
She was married to the late Charles Henson for 64 years, loved gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by son, Dale Henson; and late wife, Kathy Henson, of Ellijay; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Jerry Davis, Sheila and Jackie Stanley, all of Ellijay; brother, B.C. Allen, of Dalton; sisters, Sue Pinion, of Dalton, Joyce Tyre, of Kingsland; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, from Turniptown Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Jones, the Rev. Roy Griggs and the Rev. Ricky Brown officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
