Gilmer High celebrated its senior wrestlers with two victories. GHS hosted Southeast Whitfield last Thursday for its first-ever home girls dual, and the Cats topped the Raiders, 55-18. The Bobcats took the mat next versus Murray County, and the Indians made a close match out of it.

CCMS wins 3 more

By Robbie Bills Sports Editor   The Clear Creek Bobcats won three of four basketball games to close out league play for 2022. CCMS was in Dawson County last Monday, and the seventh-grade Cats won 59-32 before their older counterparts came out on top, 55-51.

Winter Invitational beckons GHS swimmers

Eight swim teams gathered in Dalton for the annual Winter Invitational. The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats made the trip last Saturday, and the former scored 109 points for third place. The Lady Cats totaled 67 points on the afternoon to tie for fifth among girls teams.

CCMS Lady Cats down Dawson Co.

The Clear Creek Lady Cats came away with a pair of basketball wins before Christmas break. CCMS hosted Dawson County to begin the week last Monday, and the seventh and eighth graders came away with respective wins of 45-25 and 40-25.

The Gilmer Bobcats had a busy week on the basketball court. First up was a pair of region games versus the Pickens Dragons and Dawson County Tigers before a nonregion matchup against Fannin County. GHS was on the road last Tuesday at Pickens and turnovers aided the Cats’ undoing.

The Gilmer High Bobcats continue to put themselves to the test on the wrestling mat. December is typically the month where GHS attends some of its toughest events of the season, and this year is no different.

Gilmer’s Lykins secures a pair of state qualifying times

The annual Tiger Plunge took Gilmer High swimmers to Adairsville. The meet was held Saturday, Dec. 3, and Bobcat Law Lykins achieved a pair of state qualifying times. The Bobcats (142 points) placed sixth out of 19 teams.

The Gilmer High Lady Cats’ offensive woes on the basketball court continued in their latest three games. GHS made its way to face archrival Pickens last Tuesday, and the No. 6 ranked Dragonettes won, 50-29.
