Gilmer swimmers returned to Dalton for the North Georgia Championships.
The 12-team meet was held at Dalton High last Saturday, and the host Catamounts finished first in the boys and girls standings.
The GHS Bobcats ended their day in fifth place with 94 points, while the Lady Cats tallied 35 to finish ninth among girls teams.
Four Bobcats combined to reach the finals for seven placements. Law Lykins had another strong day and led the way in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.24. He also secured first place in the 100-yard butterfly (56.54).
Ian Berry accounted for team points in the 100-yard backstroke (fifth place, 1:07.58) and 50 free (eighth, 25.15).
Larz Fowler finished seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.68). Teammate Cheyne Smith claimed 11th in the 100 free (1:24.91) and 12th in the 50 free (26.77).
Four Lady Cats also made it to the finals. Elizabeth Kucera went on to place eighth in the 200-yard individual medley in 3:21.86, and Taylor McCormick was ninth in the 100 free at 1:09.21.
Esther Bowmen clocked in at 1:34.68 for 10th in the 100 breast, and Evan May posted a time of 1:29.00 in the 100 back for 12th.
Next up for Gilmer is the GHSA State Championships Feb. 4 at Georgia Tech.
