Woodring sets new backstroke record

Payton Woodring has made her mark at the University of Cincinnati. Woodring, a 2022 Gilmer High School graduate, set a new Cincy record in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:56.42.

Cats take 2 of 3 from Adairsville

The Gilmer Bobcats claimed a pivotal baseball series. GHS continued its region schedule last week against the Adairsville Tigers and snagged two wins. The Cats hosted AHS Monday and their scoring outburst in the fourth inning led to a 4-1 win.

Lady Cats rule Calhoun track meet

The Gilmer High Lady Cats ran away with first place to continue their track and field season. GHS attended the five-team meet last Wednesday in Calhoun, and the Cats took first over host the Yellow Jackets, 122-105.

Bobcats improve to 7-2

The Gilmer High Bobcats were back in the win column in their last two soccer matches. GHS was in Pickens last Monday for a nonregion showdown with rival Pickens. The visiting Cats controlled the match and scoreboard for a 1-0 victory.

Lady Cats clip Calhoun, 2-1

The Gilmer Lady Cats remain undefeated in region play. GHS was in Calhoun last Friday, and the host Yellow Jackets took a one-goal lead into the halftime locker room.However the Cats showed plenty of resolve in the second half and netted two goals for a 2-1 road victory.

Gilmer High tennis serves losses to Ridgeland, LaFayette

Gilmer High turned in a  successful week on the tennis court. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats were on the court for two region matches, and the Ridgeland Panthers were in town last Monday. The Lady Cats won 4-1, and the Bobcats claimed their team win, 3-2.

GHS hosts 1st home track meet

Gilmer High hosted its first track meet of the season as four teams made their way to Ellijay. The event was held last Tuesday at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium, and the host Lady Cats placed third while the Bobcats were fifth.
Gilmer freshman Joei Marshall continues to be heavily involved in Lady Cat scoring opportunities this season. GHS netted goals after two of her corner kicks and a free kick last Thursday.

Cats outplay Heritage

Set pieces paid dividends for Gilmer Lady Cat soccer. GHS hosted the Heritage Generals last Thursday for a region matchup. The Cats took advantage of corner kicks and free kicks all game, which resulted in three goals.

Gilmer comes up empty versus Generals, 2-0

The Heritage Generals spoiled Gilmer High’s home soccer match to kick off region play. GHS hosted Heritage last Thursday, and while the Bobcats had possession for the bulk of the match, they were shut out for the second time this season.
