Gilmer High tennis ended its season at the region tournament.
The Bobcats and Lady Cats both faced Adairsville and endured first-round losses. The Lady Cats earned one win but fell as a team, 3-1. The Bobcats were downed, 4-0.
Senior Lyla Engel notched Gilmer’s win in the No. 2 singles spot. She came out on top in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The No. 1 doubles team of Bree Burnette and Chelsey Griggs took their first set 6-2 and were ahead 5-2 in the second before they were pulled off the court because Adairsville had already secured the team victory.
Top single Madison Bradshaw and No. 3 Katelyn Campbell lost by respective scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4, 4-3. Doubles Autumn Spangler and Rosalie Ballew were defeated, 6-1, 6-0.
No. 3 Bobcat Chase Little won his opening set, 7-6, but they did not play a second as Adairsville had already won enough matches.
AHS earned wins over Bobcat singles Eder Martinez (6-0, 6-0) and Alex Miltiades (7-5, 6-0). No. 1 doubles William Evans and Charles Addie (6-3, 6-0) and David Warren and Bo Cronic (6-2, 7-5) also lost.
The Bobcats wrapped up their season with a 4-10 record, while the Lady Cats were 3-11.
