Bobcats sack Ramblers

The Bobcats were constantly in LaFayette’s backfield and continually delivered hard hits on its quarterback. Gilmer High hosted LHS for homecoming last Friday, and the black-clad Bobcats put on a show for their fans.

Gilmer shuts out Dalton Academy

The Gilmer Lady Cats were back on their home field for another flag football victory. GHS hosted Dalton Academy and Fannin County last Thursday, and the former was up first. Gilmer’s Maggie Thompson (2) breaks up a pass versus Dalton Academy last Thursday.

GHS volleyball qualifies for state

The Gilmer Lady Cats have snapped their state volleyball tournament drought. The Cats learned of their postseason fate last week, and have been awarded the No. 25 seed in the Class 3A field of 32 teams. This marks Gilmer’s first state berth since the 2018 season.

Bobcats fade in fourth to Generals

For three quarters, it was anybody’s ball game. But in the fourth, the visiting Gilmer Bobcats began to fade last Friday, and the Heritage Generals put the game away.

GHS softball wins 2 heading to region tourney

Three straight one-run region softball games were played, and the Lady Cats claimed two victories. Adding to the intrigue was the fact that each game needed a rally in the final inning to secure a win. Gilmer High started the final week of the regular season last Monday at Northwest Whitfield.

Gilmer wins inaugural flag football game

The first flag football game in Gilmer High history ended in a win for the Lady Cats. GHS hosted Ringgold and Creekview to kick start its inaugural season last Thursday, and the game against the former came down to the wire.

McDaniel talks title

Head coach Tina McDaniel had plenty of praise for the Lady Cats. Clear Creek softball captured their second consecutive Mountain League championship Sept. 29. CCMS topped rival Pickens in the title game 5-4 after trailing 4-0 at the conclusion of the second inning.

Lady Cat volleyball trounces Adairsville

The Gilmer Lady Cats secured one more win before the region volleyball tournament. The Cats played their final home match of the regular season last Thursday against region foes Adairsville and Northwest Whitfield. The Cats took care of Adairsville 25-15 and 25-5.

CCMS seventh graders fall to Lumpkin in semifinals

Clear Creek football’s season came to a close in the league semifinals. The CCMS seventh-grade Bobcats hosted Lumpkin County last Tuesday, and the Bobcats had difficulty slowing the Indians’ running back.

Clear Creek XC hosts league meet

North Georgia Mountain League teams gathered at Clear Creek Middle School to crown a champion. The annual league race was held Sept. 19, and the CCMS Lady Cats and Bobcats both finished fourth in their respective standings. Fannin County’s Nathalie Sowers set the pace in the girls 2-mile at 14:23.
