CCMS Bobcats, Lady Cats earn four wins

Clear Creek Middle School was on the basketball court for its second week of league action and earned four wins. CCMS faced a pair of Hwy. 515 foes in Union and Fannin counties.  The Lady Cats were home last Monday against Union, and the seventh-grade Lady Cats lost, 33-26.

Bobcats claw to 28-21 win

Gilmer kept its playoff hopes alive as senior football players were sent off in style. GHS hosted the Adairsville Tigers last Friday, and the hometown Bobcats led early but had to fight back late. Possessions were at a premium as the Cats’ rushing attack made sure the clock kept ticking away.

Cats ruin Rome

Gilmer High flag football has continued to gel and show improvement in its inaugural season. GHS celebrated its senior players last Thursday as the Rome Wolves and Dawson County Tigers were in town for games.

After 4 week hiatus, GHS XC runs again

Gilmer High returned to the trail for the Five Fast Break Challenge. The annual 5K cross-country race drew 18 teams to Ringgold last Tuesday, and the GHS Lady Cats finished ninth with 225 points. The Bobcats faced 22 teams and landed in 10th place with 297.

CCMS opens season

Clear Creek Middle School is off and running with the 2025-26 basketball season. The CCMS Lady Cats were at home last Tuesday versus Dawson County, and the seventh graders lost 26-23 while the eighth grade won handily, 59-14. The Bobcats were on the road, and were defeated 40-29 and 45-20.

Team Cartecay nabs 3rd at Yunah Reserve

Gilmer Cartecay youth mountain bike team took third place for the day, and ended up taking home the top third spot in the 2025 Eastern Division Conference Series Championship of Georgia Cycling Association – Northside Hospital Race Series.

No. 3 Jackets put game away late

Gilmer ran into one of the best teams in the state and did not back down. The GHS Bobcats were in Calhoun last Friday to take on the defending state champions, the No. 3 ranked Yellow Jackets.

Heritage knocks Lady Cats out of state tourney

The Gilmer Lady Cats were on the road to begin the softball state tournament, and a familiar foe ended their season. GHS entered the Class 3A tournament seeded No. 20 and faced No. 13 Heritage last Wednesday.

GHS volleyball eliminated by Ramblers

The Gilmer Lady Cats put up a fight in their state tournament return. GHS kicked off the Class 3A volleyball state tournament last Wednesday in LaFayette. Gilmer entered the event seeded No. 25, while the Ramblers occupied the No. 8 seed.

Generals blank GHS Lady Cats, 12-0

The Gilmer Lady Cats played their first away flag football game and came home with a defeat. GHS made its way to Heritage last Thursday, and the Cats struggled to find offensive consistency against the Generals. HHS took a touchdown lead into the half and added one more for a 12-0 victory.
