The Gilmer Lady Cats were well represented on the all-region softball honor roll.
Four Lady Cats were selected to the All-Region 7-3A first team and included seniors Lily Fortune and Phoenix Addie, junior Sarah Dale and freshman Braley Stewart. Junior Jaylee McDaniel and sophomore Mary Grace Jones were voted to the second team, and junior Makayla Martin received an honorable mention.
Fortune was Gilmer’s top pitcher and started 15 games, threw 92 1/3 innings and posted an 8-8 record with a 3.29 earned-run average. She gave up 43 earned runs while striking out 97 and walking 19. Offensively, Fortune had a .337 average to go with 35 hits, which included 13 doubles and four triples. She scored 20 runs and drove in nine.
Stewart led GHS in every major offensive statistical category. She ended her freshman campaign with a .418 batting average, 1.257 on-base, plus slugging per percentage, 29 RBIs, 29 runs scored and struck out just five times in 110 plate appearances. Over half of her 41 hits were for extra bases and included two home runs, eight triples and 13 doubles, which all were No. 1 on the team.
As a pitcher, she started 12 games and posted a 5-5 record. She tossed 81 innings, walked 15, struck out 91 and had a 3.88 ERA.
Addie finished her GHS career with a .392 average and knocked in 16 runs. She recorded 28 hits that included nine doubles and a home run.
Dale batted .303 with 27 hits and eight doubles. She scored 29 runs and knocked in nine more. Her patience at the plate led to a team-high 21 walks.
McDaniel had a .326 average and was second on the team with a .949 OPS. She had seven doubles, four triples and 28 total hits and drove in 20 runs.
Jones was also in the .300 club with a .308 batting average to go with 20 hits, 19 runs scored and 16 RBIs.
Martin was there for a .254 average, 18 hits, 14 runs and drove in seven runs.
