Changes coming to high school wrestling

The upcoming high school wrestling season will look different in more ways than one for Georgia’s smaller schools. The Georgia High School Association reorganized the end-of-the year dual tournaments, which will alter who Gilmer High School faces and how it qualifies for state.

Recent Gilmer High School honor graduate Luke Morgan will attend Ferrum College in Virginia to play football for the Panthers.

Morgan will make his way to Ferrum College

Luke Morgan has traded the purple and white colors of Gilmer High for the black and gold of the Ferrum College (Va.) Panthers. Morgan, a 2020 GHS honor graduate, accepted a scholarship to play football at Ferrum. He also considered The University of the South in Tenn.

Gilmer athletes resume summer conditioning

High school athletes around the state were able to experience a bit of normalcy last week. For the first time since classes dismissed March 13 because of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, players and coaches were able to meet in an official capacity on school grounds.
