Clear Creek football began its season on the road last Thursday at Union County and were defeated by the Panthers, 18-6.
The Bobcats struck in the opening half with a touchdown by Kyle Cowart. The two-point conversion failed, but the Bobcats maintained their lead entering the half.
The Panthers returned the second half kickoff for a touchdown and led 8-6 following the conversion.
UCMS added its second touchdown on a fourth down and long and successfully added the two-point conversion for the game’s final points.
Volleyball lost its last two matches. Using a best-of-three format Aug. 31, the Lady Cats defeated White County 25-23 in the first set but dropped the last two, 25-16 and 15-6.
Versus Fannin County two days later, CCMS snagged a victory of 25-15 in the second set but the Rebels won the first (25-15) and third (15-6) sets to take the match.
CCMS is currently 3-5 overall and third in the region standings.
Softball is “Starting to come together as a team,” according to head coach Nickie Rogers.
After a pair of lopsided defeats to start the season, the CCMS Lady Cats showed improvement in losses to Union County (8-5) and Lumpkin County (11-7) before trouncing Towns County, 28-6.
The Lady Cats are 1-4 overall on the season.
