GHS Lady Cats pick up pair of region wins versus West Hall

The Gilmer High Lady Cats are back at full strength and back in the win column. GHS took the field last Monday with their regular starting lineup in tact for the first time since the first game of the season. The Cats traveled to West Hall and delivered losses of 15-2 and 8-0 to the Spartans.

GHS Lady Cat volleyball topples Sprayberry, 2-0

Gilmer High was busy on the volleyball court last week with 10 matches over a five-day span. The Cats made their way to Cobb County Saturday, Aug. 28, for the Georgia Challenge Tournament and faced larger schools from Class 6A and 7A. GHS earned one win on the day while losing four.

Gilmer Bobcats unable to tame Tigers

The Gilmer High Bobcats ran into an experienced Ringgold Tigers squad to start the season. The Tigers were bigger and faster than the Bobcats, and a pair of GHS turnovers spotted RHS two touchdowns.

GHS Lady Cats back at full strength

Gilmer High was back on the softball diamond and finally got back to full strength Monday. They were still short-handed when they played a trio of region opponents last week and suffered three losses.

CCMS volleyball, softball continue

Clear Creek Middle School has continued its fall sports season as weather and quarantines have allowed. Softball is currently 0-2, and the Lady Cats were run ruled in three innings by Pickens before an 8-3 loss to Dawson County. Versus Dawson, CCMS found itself down 5-0 in the fourth inning.

Gilmer runners hit the trail to start XC season

Gilmer High cross-country runners opened their season with a pair of meets last week. GHS made its way to the Run For the Hills 5K in Union County Thursday ahead of Saturday’s Pickens Preview. The Bobcats finished fourth out of five teams with 80 points at Meeks Park Thursday.

Gilmer tops Fannin, later quarantined

After opening the volleyball seasons last Monday, Gilmer High varsity players are now in quarantine. They are set to return to practice this week and will be required to wear masks. Before they were sidelined, the Lady Cats traveled to Dawson County for the Mountain Madness Opener.

Rocky week for GHS Cats on diamond

The Gilmer High Lady Cats are still searching for their first softball victory. GHS wrapped up a tournament in Dalton last Saturday and posted a 0-3 record at the event. The Cats began the tournament Friday and narrowly lost to the Ridgeland Panthers, 2-1.

2021 GHS Bobcats unveiled vs. Fannin

Gilmer High hosted Fannin County on the gridiron last Friday, but the outcome cannot be found in any record book. While the rivals normally meet during the regular season, this year’s matchup was preseason scrimmage.
