Gilmer High ran into another one of the region’s top teams last Friday night. The GHS Bobcats made the trip to face the North Hall Trojans for their fourth region matchup of the season. Gilmer found itself down immediately as the Trojans’ powerful ground game produced quick touchdowns.

Gilmer High School cheerleaders returned with some first-place hardware from their latest competition. GHS was in Canton at Creekview High School Saturday for its second event of the season. Gilmer was in a section with eight teams and came away with first place.

The Gilmer Bobcats hosted Dawson County last Friday, and the visiting Tigers proved to be unruly homecoming guests. Dawson had a capable running and passing attack that kept GHS off balance all night and scored on six of seven first-half possessions to build a formidable lead.

The Gilmer High Lady Cats’ softball season ended on the road last Friday. A year removed from a region title, GHS missed the state tournament this time around, and Dawson County was its final destination. The Tigers jumped ahead in the first inning, and Gilmer got a run back in the fourth.
