Mrs. Valerie Marie Becker

Mrs. Valerie Marie Becker, 31, of Ellijay, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Piedmont Healthcare Center in Atlanta. She was an outstanding mother, loving wife, daughter, aunt and nurse.  She spent her life being the best mother she could be, while making sure those around her were always cared for.

Eddie Allan Long

Mr. Eddie Allan Long, 55, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021. He was born July 2, 1965, in Ellijay, to the late Benjamin Hoke Long  and the late Evelyn Tipton Long. He attended Gilmer High School. Prior to being disabled, he worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed outdoors, camping and music.

Ora Jean Reece

Mrs. Ora Jean Reece, “Jean,” 85, of Ellijay, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, surrounded by family.  She was born Sept. 2, 1935, to Roy Clinton and Ila Christine Dalrymple in Nantahala, N.C. A 1953 graduate of Gilmer High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold, Jan.

Carl Melliff

Carl Melliff, 67, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, leaving behind his wife, Lena Workman and children, Sabrina Workman, Javon Workman and Laura Workman.  They will accept visitors at their home Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, from 1-3 p.m. Visitors please wear mask.

Thomas ‘Tommy’ Bricker Daughtry

Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Bricker Daughtry left this world Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, after a three-year battle with nonsmall cell lung cancer succumbing to pneumonia.  He was born in Dothan, Ala., Nov. 22, 1943, to Jeannette Palmer and Ralph L. Daughtry.

Mrs. Mary Anita McFarlin, 83, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, after a prolonged illness. She was born Sept. 7, 1937, to the late George and Willie V. Johnston in Montgomery, Ala.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Logan Davis

Mrs. Shirley Ann Logan Davis, 82, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021. She was born in Ellijay, March 4, 1938, to the late Claude Logan and Ora Bell Wood Logan.

Carl Andrew and Deborah Ann Moore

Mr. Carl Andrew Moore, 75, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020.  Deborah Ann Moore, 68, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020.  Carl was born May 3, 1945, in Clay, W.Va., to the late Sanford Andrew and Cilicia Myrtle (Hamrick) Moore.

The Rev. Johnny Shannon Mayfield

The Rev. Shannon Mayfield died at his home in Athens, Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, after a valiant eight-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was 51 years old.

Mrs. Nina Jane Akins Waddell

Mrs. Nina Jane Akins Waddell, 84, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021. She was born in Gilmer County Aug. 31, 1936, to the late Ben Akins and Iowa Cochran Akins.  She is preceded in death by husband, Robert Lewis Waddell; sons, Robert Waddell Jr.
