I am Thomas Ocobock, and I am running for Mayor of East Ellijay. With my wife, Melissa (Missy) Keener-Ocobock, and our boys, Ryan and Peyton, we are blessed to be a multigenerational East Ellijay family. My father-in-law, Fred, served proudly on the East Ellijay City Council prior to his death.

My name is Al Fuller. I’m currently an Ellijay City Councilmember and seeking re-election. I was born in downtown Ellijay to Mary Virginia and Bandy Fuller. I am one of their four children.  My wife, Cindy, and I will celebrate our 42nd anniversary on the 25th of this month.

The gears will soon be turning for the Apple Country Classic Auto Club’s biggest yearly event. The Apple Classic Car Show will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at Victory Christian Center, 208 Victory Circle. Registration will start at 8 a.m.

Early voting for two city elections will begin Monday, Oct. 16 and run through Friday, Nov. 3. Candidates for mayor and city council are vying for office in the cities of Ellijay and East Ellijay.

Gilmer to receive rabies vaccine airdrop for wildlife

Critters in the north Georgia mountains may soon find a snack in their path that will protect them against rabies. Gilmer is one of several north Georgia counties that was scheduled to receive an airdrop of oral rabies vaccine (ORV) packets for wildlife sometime between Oct. 3 and 10.
