My name is Tom Crawford. I am a current Ellijay City Councilmember running for re-election.  I have made Ellijay my home since 2010. I was raised in Rome, Ga., and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986.

Assessors strike hiring audit firm

The Gilmer County Board of Assessors ultimately voted to strike a $25,000 expense for hiring an outside company to conduct in-person personal property audits at local businesses, but not without discussing the topic at length during a meeting last week.

Gilmer Health Dept. to host drive-thru flu shot clinic

Local residents will again be able to roll up their sleeves and arm themselves against the flu without having to take both hands off the wheel. The Gilmer County Health Department will host its annual drive-thru flu shot clinic Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the ETC Pavilion on Legion Road.

Local educator sorority chapter welcoming new members

The local chapter of an international educator’s sorority will welcome perspective new members during the month of October. The local Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) chapter, which is Beta Upsilon, covers Gilmer and Fannin County.

Davenport represents U.S. in international baseball tourney

Life takes one many places, and for Luke Davenport, his latest stop was Nagoya, Japan. Davenport, 28, represented the United States in the fifth annual World Dream Baseball Tournament, and he returned to Ellijay with a bronze medal. Davenport is a Gilmer native and GHS alum.
