First festival weekend draws 30K

The 52nd annual Georgia Apple Festival enjoyed a big opening weekend and was, for the most part, unhampered by some intermittent rain early Saturday and on Sunday.  “Generally speaking, (we had two) good days.

Indictment handed down in Build An Ark case

An indictment has been made in a Superior Court case involving the former proprietor of a local animal rescue and petting zoo. Susan Littlejohn, who operated Build an Ark Animal Rescue, was indicted on 10 charges last week. Of those, six are felony aggravated animal cruelty charges.

Ellijay’s community trick or treat festivities will once again be held at Harrison Park this year.  Trick or treating at the park will begin at 1 p.m. and last until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct,. 28. “It will be like (in previous years).
