My name is Thomas Griffith, and I am running for a seat on the Ellijay City Council.  As an avid trail runner and mountain biker, I first started visiting Ellijay during the late ’90s. From the first time I visited, I felt drawn to this town.

GCCA applies for $3.1M grant

The Gilmer College and Career Academy has applied for a $3.1 million grant once again. The GCCA submitted its application Sept. 15 to the Technical College System of Georgia. Last year, two grants were available, but only one is up for grabs in 2023.

Apple Festival on tap for Oct. 14 kickoff

Fall is in the air and the leaves are starting to turn, which means thousands will soon converge on Ellijay for the Georgia Apple Festival. The 52nd annual festival and its various sister events will commence over the weekends of Oct. 14-15 and 21-22. The Apple Festival will run from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

First apple harvest a bushel of fun for GHS students

Students in agriculture classes at Gilmer High School (GHS) not only helped grow and pick a crop of apples for a recent class project, they were also able to use the county cannery to process and package the harvested fruit.  The project gave 9th-12th grade ag.
