My name is Ed Forrester. I am currently an East Ellijay City Councilmember, and I am running for re-election.
I have been on the council since 2015, when I was appointed to fill out the remaining term of the late Gene McClure. I am now in my second term.
My family roots in Gilmer County date back to the 1800s. I was raised on Roy Road and later moved to Atlanta, where I worked for 20 years. I have lived here in East Ellijay since 1972.
For many years, I worked as a truck driver, hauling freight across 23 southeastern states. I had my own trucking business here for 43 years. I retired from trucking in 2010.
I also played country music with several groups for many years and was blessed to play with lots of the big stars. I played on the Louisiana Hayride for several years and was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
I have enjoyed serving the community I have lived in for 51 years by being on the East Ellijay City Council.
I love this town, and I want to continue to be there to do the best I can for it.
