Class of 2021 graduation ceremony May 28

Gilmer High School is pleased to announce the Class of 2021 commencement exercises. The event will take place at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium Friday, May 28, at 7 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets are not required to attend, and admission is free to all spectators.

Team River Runner takes to Cartecay for spring opener

The Atlanta chapter of Team River Runner held its annual Spring Opener Friday, April 30, along the Cartecay River. The national nonprofit organization works with military veterans interested in paddle sports.

Acoustic Blends returns to Harrison Park May 21

The popular musical showcase Acoustic Blends finally returns to a live setting this month after being absent from local stages for more than a year. Usually held monthly at the George Link Jr.

(Garden Club Of Ellijay) — The Garden Club of Ellijay will hold its annual plant sale Saturday, May 22, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the Ellijay Lions Club Pavilion, 1729 South Main Street.  Preparation for this huge plant sale starts each year many months prior to the event.

After being unable to hold one of its most popular events last year, the Gilmer Chamber was well on its way to having everything in place for Taste of Ellijay to return this year.

Throughout two decades that have included periods of economic strife, two facility relocations and, now, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gilmer Community Food Pantry has continued to fulfill its mission of providing food to those in need.

East Ellijay traffic stop results in drug arrest

A routine traffic stop led to East Ellijay Police arresting one man for drugs and drug-related objects last week. According to a police report, an SUV was pulled over after an officer noticed its brake lights weren’t working.
