Bank robbery suspect caught

Gilmer County deputies are being credited with stopping Brandon David Nunnelley’s vain get-rich-quick attempt within minutes after he is accused of robbing the BB&T bank off Highway 515 in Blue Ridge last Thursday, April 29.
GBI agents are also looking to identify a woman who was the last known contact with Delgado. She was captured in a video with her. Anyone with information can call the tip line.

A man has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a woman which occurred in Cherry Log.

Water board approves $1.5 million meter changeout

Meet the Authors returns to playhouse May 8

Gilmer Arts will soon bring its annual literary event back to the downtown Ellijay playhouse after pandemic restrictions prevented last year’s installment from being held.  The 2021 Meet the Authors event will take place Saturday, May 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the George Link Jr. Gilmer Arts Playhouse.

Chicago to be presented at GHS Theater this weekend

Gilmer High School Theater’s spring season will go out with a bang when students present the popular stage musical Chicago this weekend. Shows will be held at the Linda Miller Theater inside the high school at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7; 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 8, and a 1 p.m. matinée Sunday, May 9.

The Gilmer Arts Gallery will host a reception Friday, May 7, from 5-7 p.m., that will honor two spectacular artists exhibiting at the gallery this month.  Colleen Sterling will speak on egg tempera and her process in producing her art pieces.

Multiple subdivisions taking shape across county

A number of new subdivisions are contributing to a time of heavy home construction in Gilmer County.  According to Planning and Zoning Director Karen Henson, 11 subdivisions are currently underway in the county area overseen by the planning and zoning office.

(bottom left); and a fifth unidentified man (center) in connection with the murder of Rossana Delgado, 37, of Bethlehem.
