Gilmer High School 2022 alum Dylan Galloway just added to his stellar wrestling resume.
Galloway competed at Disney’s AAU Scholastic Duals in Orlando last week and posted a 9-2 record to help team Special Ops finish third in the all-star gold division.
Galloway wrestled in the heavyweight spot and surrendered at least 40 pounds to all but one opponent, and his 9-2 record allowed him to achieve the distinction of All-American for a sixth time.
Each dual started at 106 pounds, which meant Galloway took the mat last every time. All three of Special Ops’ team wins came down to Galloway sealing the victory at the end.
Both of Galloway’s losses came against heralded opponents. He was defeated by Emmanuel Ulrich of Pennsylvania, who is a two-time state placer. Galloway’s second loss was to Maryland’s Terrence McCauley, who is the No. 9 ranked heavyweight in the country and has committed to play football at the Naval Academy.
Spec Ops is coached by Cezar Sharbono, and they are a yearly contender to qualify for the gold pool at Disney.
Galloway, who has committed to wrestle at Life University, has a final tournament this summer. He will attend the Deep South Duals, July 28-29 in Hoover, Ala., as a member of Morris Fitness.
