Unicoi State Park is an annual destination for Gilmer High cross-country, and it returned once again.
The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats made their way to Helen for the 24-team Mountain Invitational last Thursday.
Four Lady Cats finished inside the top 100, and Estephany Becerra completed the 5K course in 25:06.7 for 65th place. Next up were Amalia Raymundo (80th, 25:37.20), Maria Alonzo (89th, 26:26.1), Florinda Lopez (97th, 26:43.3) and Maria Raymundo (110th, 27:45.4).
Salma Gonzalez (124th, 30:32.2) and Angelica Lopez (126th, 30:42.2) also ran for the Cats.
The top-three Bobcats turned in sub-20 minute times and included Dawson Richard (55th, 19:15.7), Talyn Mesner (64th, 19:39.3) and Michael Little (76th, 19:51). Next up were teammates Seth Turner (76th, 20:47) and Leeland Dantin (105th, 20:47.4).
Remaining Bobcats included Eder Martinez (120th, 21:24.4) and Hannes Sobottka (124th, 21:40.6).
Jefferson won the boys competition over second place North Hall, 40-71, Lumpkin County (114) was third and GHS finished 15th with 399 points.
North Hall (25) led the way in the girls standings ahead of Jefferson (105) and Loganville (110), while the Lady Cats (377) were 15th.
Running in the junior varsity boys race were Bobcats Sebastien Raymundo (27th, 21:37.3), Cristofer Chun-Bell (57th, 23:03.7), Edward Marietta (74th, 23:45.8), Matthew Hennessee (102nd, 24:58.1), Daniel Gonzalez (131st, 28:09.7), Gabe Watkins (138th, 29:18.8) and Ridge Blocker (144th, 32:06.1).
JV Lady Cats included Selina Tercero (35th, 28:49.2), Maggie Thompson (60th, 32:10.3), Aracely Rafael (65th, 32:28.2), Xiare Ramirez (70th, 33:25.8) and Jennifer Mateo (87th, 40:03.1).
The Cats will travel to North Murray Oct. 10 for their next meet.
