Hice nears all-time wins record

North Murray’s Mistletoe Madness beckoned the Gilmer High Bobcats. GHS attended the three-day event last week and came away with two wins. Gilmer took down Coahulla Creek (83-62) Tuesday as J.D. Taylor and Jackson McVey scored 26 and 25 points for Gilmer, respectively.
Gilmer senior Bregan Berry was one of three first-place finishers for the Bobcats last Friday in Armuchee. In addition to his title, Berry achieved his 100th career win.

GHS grapplers take 2nd

Gilmer High received a dose of dual and traditional wrestling ahead of Christmas break. The Bobcats were in Cumming last Tuesday to take on Forsyth Central and Dawson County, and GHS earned respective wins of 48-30 and 64-6.

Cats continue to make strides

The Gilmer High Lady Cats have already matched their win total from a season ago. The Lady Cats attended North Murray’s Mistletoe Madness basketball tournament last week and posted a 2-1 record.  Gilmer met the host Mountaineers Monday and led from start to finish.

Bobcats undefeated in region

The Gilmer High Bobcats improved to 4-0 in region play with two more wins, and Jackson McVey eclipsed 1,000 career points. Lumpkin County was in town last Tuesday, and GHS survived a rough game by the Indians.

GHS Lady Cats pounce on Lumpkin, North Murray

The Gilmer High Lady Cats snagged three more wins on the basketball court. The Cats’ slate began last week with a pair of region games, and the Lumpkin County Indians were in Ellijay Tuesday. It was a low-scoring physical game, and LCHS led early.

Bobcat wrestlers bring home possum tournament trophy

Gilmer wrestlers were in Haralson County for the uniquely-named Possum Snout Duals. All five teams wrestled each other once, and GHS posted a 4-0 record and received a possum trophy for its efforts.

Gilmer swimmers compete for final time in ’23

Gilmer High swimmers were back at their home away from home. GHS was in Adairsville last Saturday for the third time this season when the Bobcats and Lady Cats attended their final meet of the year. Jacob Kucera continued to perform well in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events.

Team Cartecay has strong showing at Road Atlanta

Muddy conditions set the stage for the Georgia Cycling Association Eastern Division Championship Race, dubbed the Raceway Race.  The Oct. 21 championship was held at Road Atlanta in Braselton, home of the Fox Factory Trail System.

Bobcats drop local rivals

The Gilmer Bobcats are off to a 2-0 start versus region opponents. GHS began last week at home Tuesday versus archrival Pickens. The Bobcats weathered the Dragons’ barrage of three pointers and staved off a late rally for a 76-71 victory.
