GHS wrestling wins 3 more

Gilmer High wrestlers were in Cherokee County for a final test ahead of Thanksgiving break. GHS attended the 12-team Etowah Duals last Tuesday, and the short-handed Bobcats were without six of 14 starters. Gilmer posted a 2-1 record in its group to start the day before teams were put into brackets.

Gilmer High’s football season lasted longer than most predicted, and the Bobcats proved they deserved to be there for every moment.

New regions announced

Gilmer High School will once again have a different set of region opponents at the beginning of the 2024-25 academic year. The Georgia High School Association finalized its reclassification process last Thursday.

GHS wrestling improves to 7-2

The Bobcats tested their mettle against schools from larger classifications. Gilmer High was one of 12 teams in Acworth last Saturday for the annual Blackbeard Duals. GHS wrestled five matches on the day and posted a 3-2 record for third place.

Gilmer swim ‘thankful to compete’

With the holiday right around the corner, Gilmer High swimmers were in Adairsville for the annual Thankful to Compete swim meet. Seven GHS swimmers made the trip last Saturday, and they combined for six top-five placements.

GHS wrestling shines on the mat

Gilmer High School girls received plenty of quality mat time at their second wrestling event of the season. GHS traveled to Campbell High School last Saturday for the 24-team Lady Spartan Round Robin. Fifteen Gilmer wrestlers were in attendance, and they all took the mat for at least four matches.

7th grade Bobcats nab 46-30 win vs. Fannin

Clear Creek Middle School met an old rival on the basketball court. CCMS took on Fannin County last Tuesday, and the Bobcats were at home while the lady Cats traveled to play the Lady Rebels.  The seventh-grade Bobcats came away with a win on the day as eight players contributed points.

CCMS wrestling remains undefeated in duals

Clear Creek Middle School rolled to two more league wrestling wins. The Bobcats welcomed the Pickens Dragons and Dawson County Tigers to the CCMS gym last Wednesday. Rival Pickens was up first, and the Bobcats mauled their southern rival for a 78-10 victory.

Bobcats outmatch Tigers, 35-28

It is week 12 of the football season, and Gilmer High School is still playing. GHS was on the road in Adairsville to begin the Class 3A state playoffs last Friday. The region champion Tigers were favorites to win, and the Bobcats relished their underdog role.
