Gilmer High swimmers were back at their home away from home.
GHS was in Adairsville last Saturday for the third time this season when the Bobcats and Lady Cats attended their final meet of the year.
Jacob Kucera continued to perform well in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events. He placed fourth in both races and clocked in at 23.69 in the free and 1:01.86 in the fly.
Kucera, Cheyne Smith, Conner Defoor and Clifford Defoor were 14th in the 200 free relay at 2:07.70. They placed 18th in the 200 medley relay in 2:36.77.
Smith also landed in 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:18.65 and was 11th in the 50 free (25.29). Clifford Defoor competed in the 100 (46th place, 1:53.87) and 50 free (61st, 42.83), while Conner Defoor placed 56th in the 50 free (39.48).
Evan May had the best individual finish for the Lady Cats. She posted a time of 1:22.49 in the 100-yard backstroke for sixth. She also swam the 50 free and placed 33rd (32.87).
May, Yana Jones, Elizabeth Kucera and Lana Ginger teamed up for 13th in the 200 medley relay (2:39.38). May, Kucera, Dalilah Jennings and Rosalie Ballew finished the 200 free relay in 2:44.05 for 23rd.
Kucera was the No. 1 Lady Cat in the 100 free (15th, 1:12.08) and was followed by teammates Jones (37th, 1:19.43), Ginger (56th, 1:34.85) and Ballew (73rd, 2:05.95).
Also swimming the 50 free were Jones (27th, 31.91), Ginger (56th, 37.18), Addison Emond (59th, 40.52), Jennings (81st, 46.65) and Ballew (68th, 55.19).
Starr’s Mills topped McIntosh for first in the girls standings, 428-414. North Paulding placed third (298), and the Lady Cats were 11th (32).
The same teams dominated the boys standings with Starr’s Mills (406), McIntosh (324) and North Paulding (321.5) in the top three, and the Bobcats placed 12th (56).
GHS returns to the pool Jan. 13 at Calhoun High School.
