James C. Watson Jr.

Mr. James C. Watson, Jr., 90, of Ellijay, died Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Atlanta, to the late James Coleman and Myrtle Allgood Watson.  He was a graduate of South West Dekalb High School, was retired from Atlanta Dairies and was a member of Pisgah Church of Christ.

Dr. Glendell Lee Snider

Dr. Glendell Lee Snider, 84, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020. He was born Jan. 20, 1936, in Dexter, Mo., to the late John T. and Emma Lee Clifft Snider. He was a graduate of Dexter High School, and University of Missouri in Columbia as a veterinarian. He also served in the U.S.

Ricky David McClure

Mr. Ricky David McClure, 61, of Ellijay, died Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Regency Park Health & Rehabilitation in Dalton. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by parents David McClure and Christine Kinsey McClure.

Mrs. Sayward Carter

Mrs. Sayward Carter, 39, of Ellijay, died Friday, July 24, 2020. She was born July 28, 1980, in Douglasville. She was a homemaker and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  She is preceded in death by father, Richard Amann.

Alan Douglas Boatwright

Mr. Alan Douglas Boatwright, 59, died July 18, 2020.  He was born Sept. 9, 1960, to the late Christopher Columbus and Eunice Hagan Boatwright, in Ellijay. He was a member of Nine Mile United Methodist Church and a Gideon. He was self-employed as a professional carpenter.

Larry E. Davis

Mr. Larry E. Davis, 84, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020. He was born March 26, 1936, in Gilmer County, to the late William and Tamer Greenway Davis. He was a graduate of Ellijay High School, class of 1954 and member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mildred L. Ballew

Mrs. Mildred L. Ballew, 74, of Jasper, died Thursday, July 23, 2020. She was born Aug. 5, 1945, in Gilmer County to the late James and Cleo Moss Wright.  She was a member of Refuge Baptist Church.  She is preceded in death by granddaughter, Krista Hyde; and sister, Betty Sue Shoemaker.

Alonza Darrell Mathis

Mr. Alonza Darrell Mathis, 83, of Blairsville, died Sunday, July 26, 2020.  He was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Adel, to the late Emory Cauly and Willa Mae (Absher) Mathis.  He was a member of  Cartecay Baptist Church and was a Georgia State Trooper for 22 years.

Dorothy Mae Sedlak

Dorothy Mae Sedlak, 85, of Marietta, died Thursday, July 16, 2020.  Born in Atlanta, she lived most of her life in Cobb County. She retired from Capital City Supply after 20 years of employment as an executive secretary. She was a member of Celebration Church of God in Dallas.

Mrs. Nina Sanford Burgess

Mrs. Nina Sanford Burgess,  91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 14, 2020. She was born Dec. 22, 1929, to Jerry Burton and Dorie Dotson Sanford in Ellijay.  She is preceded in death by husband of 49 years, Cecil Grover Burgess; seven sisters; and two brothers.
