Mr. Larry E. Davis, 84, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

He was born March 26, 1936, in Gilmer County, to the late William and Tamer Greenway Davis. He was a graduate of Ellijay High School, class of 1954 and member of First Baptist Church. 

He is preceded in death by sister, Faye Adams; sister in-law, Sally Davis; and brother in-law, Jim Gudger. 

He was a mechanic and was always interested in the community. 

He served as a Gilmer County Commissioner and was chosen Citizen of the Year in 2017, but he will always be remembered for his love of music. 

He along, with his brother Vic, performed for many years at local events, and were recently inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. 

He is survived by wife, Alice Gates Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Heather Davis, of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Al Summers, of Ellijay; grandchildren, Savannah Summers, Abby Summers, Courtney Davis and Ryan Davis; stepgrandchildren, Jacob Pritchett, Holden (Kayla) Banks and Heidi Banks; step great-grandchildren, Grady and Dawson Banks; sister, Opal Gudger; brothers, Vic Davis, Bobby (Jane) Davis and Donnie (Emma) Davis; and brother in-law, Larry Adams.

Graveside memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020, in the Yukon Cemetery with Brother Bobby Davis officiating.  

Music was led by the Davis Trio.
