Mrs. Nancy Smith Adams

Mrs. Nancy Smith Adams, 79, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Warner Robbins Dec. 9, 1941, to the late Charles Smith and Estelle Smith.

In 1963 she married her high school sweetheart and would have celebrated 58 years of marriage in December with Charles (Chuck) Adams.

Despite her large family she always had time for everyone. She was never too busy for a phone call or to pull out a chair at her table while offering you fresh coffee or glass of sweet tea. She provided love and support for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would proudly boast about their accomplishments. All the family gatherings were planned, hosted and celebrated at her home with her right in the middle. Her love for children was generously demonstrated by her lifetime of teaching Sunday school and VBS. Living a life for Jesus and sharing his love with others was most important to her. Our lives have been blessed abundantly because we had Gail as our mother. She was a secretary for IBM prior to her retirement and was a member of Ellijay Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by parents; and brother, David Smith.

She is survived by husband, Chuck Adams; sons, Hardy Adams (Amy), and Wesley Adams (Samantha); daughter, Kelley Jones (Rusty); sisters, Judy Mailen and Cleah Boaz; grandchildren, Karlie Upshaw, Christopher Jones, Cody Sowder, Katherine Adcock, Fletcher Adams, Charlie Adams, Emily Adams, and Noah Adams; great-grandchildren, Mammie Farmer, Amerah Brown, Jayde Rosa, Zachary Cowart, Zandy Cowart, Caroline Upshaw, Easton Jones, Harris Adcock and Heavenliah Adcock.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at Ellijay Church of Christ with Minister Jeremy Green officiating.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
