Mr. Charles Lawson Smith, 75, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 19,
2021.
He was born in Gilmer County Oct. 21, 1945, to the late Howard Smith and Clara Keener Smith.
He worked in the logging industry and was an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by wife, Hattie Marie Smith; brothers, Edward Smith and Marvin Smith; sister, Estelle Teems; and granddaughter, Cassie Renee Smith.
He is survived by sons, Jim Bob Smith and Bryson Smith; daughters, Tracey Passmore and Anissia Prince; sisters, Floy Henderson and Wilma Lee Chastain; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Sanford and the Rev. Paul Richards officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were Edward Teems and Christopher Chastain.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
