Gilmer swims in Dalton ahead of break

The Dalton Invitational was the destination for Gilmer High swimmers last Saturday. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats combined for 10 top-10 placements and finished seventh and sixth in their respective standings.

Undefeated GHS Cats sit at 8-0

The Gilmer High Bobcats are off to a hot start. GHS cruised through its six nonregion basketball games and picked up two more wins last week to begin region play. Gilmer hosted West Hall Tuesday and smashed the Spartans, 71-43.

10 Bobcats on football all-region teams

Fifteen Gilmer High Bobcats were recognized by Region 7-3A coaches to cap the football season. Gilmer’s first-team all-region selections included quarterback Seth Darling, halfback Kobe Stonecipher and defensive back Dominic Tarantino.

TRAC’s 14U Elite takes league title with undefeated season

The Three Rivers Athletic Club (TRAC) came away with a soccer league title in the boys 14-under division. Ellijay’s 14U Elite posted a 9-0-1 seasonal record in Cherokee County to cap their recreational soccer careers.

Gilmer High swimmers return to Calhoun

Ten teams gathered at the Calhoun Aquatic Center to continue the swim season. The meet was held last Thursday, and the Gilmer High Bobcats (103 points) placed fourth out of eight teams in the boys standings. The Lady Cats were seventh among the 10 girls teams with 36 points.

GHS Lady Cats devour Spartans

The Gilmer High Lady Cats kicked off their region basketball schedule with a pair of home games last week. GHS hosted the West Hall Spartans Tuesday and put the game away early as coach Susan Nunn emptied her bench in a 70-15 win.          The tables were turned Friday versus White County.

Clear Creek wrestling notches wins over Fannin, Lumpkin

Clear Creek Middle School wrestlers were in Blue Ridge last Tuesday to take on the Fannin County Rebels, and they returned home with a 53-33 league victory.     CCMS was on the road two days later for another league win over Lumpkin County, 70-12.

No. 1 ranked Bobcats keep rolling

Gilmer High wrestlers were at North Murray High School last Saturday and returned home with their third tournament title of the season. Gilmer posted a 5-0 record and won every match by at least 32 points to improve to 17-1 on the season.

The Gilmer High Bobcats improved to 6-0 in nonregion basketball action. GHS was on its home court for games last week and sent both teams home with a loss. First up were the Southeast Whitfield Raiders on Friday.
