Mrs. Mary Anita McFarlin, 83, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, after a prolonged illness.
She was born Sept. 7, 1937, to the late George and Willie V. Johnston in Montgomery, Ala. She was a high school graduate and was employed by Las Vegas skating rink where she was the assistant manager for many years. She loved flower arranging, cooking that was enjoyed by many and sewing. Her greatest joy though was entertaining family and friends.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Sandy Bush; and brothers, Jerry Johnston and David Johnston.
She is survived by sister, Karen Williams, of Ellijay; sister-in-law, Donna Johnston, of Ellijay; nephew, Scott Plante, of Ellijay; and nieces, Dawn Roder and Meg Cain, both of Arizona.
To honor her wishes, she will be cremated and inurned at the Ellijay City Cemetery with no services planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Gilmer Animal Shelter (FOGAS), in memory of Mrs. McFarlin.
