William ‘Bill’ Matthew Williams

Mr. William “Bill” Matthew Williams, 86, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021.  He was born March 12, 1935 to the late Matthew and Etta Lowe Williams in Plains.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ellijay.

Doris Waddell Spruill

Doris Waddell Spruill died Wednesday, June 2, 2021. She was born March 11, 1927, to the late J. O. and the late Inez Waddell.  She was the widow of George Marshall Spruill.  She graduated from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing where she was a member of the Army Cadet Nurse Corps.

Mrs. Loretta Kay Pourron

Mrs. Loretta Kay Pourron, 73, of Ellijay died Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at her residence. She was born Aug. 16, 1947, in St. Petersburg Fla., to the late Alfred James Gettys and Ona Lee Farrington Gettys.  She worked as a bookkeeper for progressive restoration.

Johnny Louis Kinser

Mr. Johnny Louis Kinser, 49, of Ellijay, died Friday, May 28, 2021. He was born June 24, 1971, to Jerry and JoAnn Johnson Kinser. He loved Sesame Street, especially Big Bird and Cookie Monster. His favorite professional wrestler was John Cena. He greeted everyone with a handshake.

Phillip ‘Phil” Anthony Simmons

Mr. Phillip “Phil” Anthony Simmons, 70, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  He was born March 29, 1951, in Ellijay, to the late Howard and Izora (Pritchett) Simmons.

James Freeman Mooney

Mr. James Freeman Mooney, 79, of Whitesburg, died Friday, May 21, 2021. He was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Gilmer County, to the late James Gardy Mooney and the late Lillian Mae Cantrell Mooney.  He retired from Southwire after 37 years of service.

Mrs. Della Mae Stanley

Mrs. Della Mae Stanley, 69, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at her residence with family by her side. She was born Feb. 19, 1952, in Gilmer County to the late Hugh Brown Richards and Ruth Anna Easley Richards.  She was a homemaker and loved spending time with family.

Harold Eugene ‘Gene’ Thurman

Mr. Harold Eugene “Gene” Thurman, 74, of Ellijay, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness  He was born in Ellijay to the late Clyde and Eva Whitaker Thurman.

Mr. Jerry Lee Stanley, 81, of Kingston, died Thursday, May 13, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Gilmer County May 31, 1939, to the late Herbert Stanley and Margaret Dempsey Stanley.

Morris Edward Reece

Mr. Morris Edward Reece, 81, of Talking Rock, died Saturday, May 15, 2021, at his residence with loved ones by his side. He was born July 23, 1939, in Gilmer County, to the late Horace and Agnes McJunkins Reece. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.
