Harold Eugene ‘Gene’ Thurman

Mr. Harold Eugene “Gene” Thurman, 74, of Ellijay, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness 

He was born in Ellijay to the late Clyde and Eva Whitaker Thurman. 

He was a member of Ellijay Church of Christ since childhood, but attended Turniptown Baptist Church for the past seven years. 

He retired after working 37 years as an owner/salesman of a Flowers Baking Company bread route in Fannin County. 

He is survived by wife of 45 years, Patsy Teague Thurman; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Mark West, Lauree and Shannon Pierce, all of Ellijay, Jennifer and Erik Ferris, of Jupiter, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Kathy Thurman, of Ellijay, Jim and Andrea Wilson, of Woodstock, Jeff and Erin Thurman, of Ellijay; grandchildren, Brady and Sarah West, Macy and Josh Griffin, Savannah Thurman, Emma Thurman, Eva Thurman, Jessie Wilson, Mia Bazelis, Ava Bazelis, Mandy and Josh Bryant, Will and Kennedi Ward, Maggie Pierce, Jack Ferris, Mia Ferris, Reid Ferris, Lucy Thurman, Lily Thurman, Payden Thurman, Payleigh Thurman and Scotlin Thurman; great-grandchildren, Halle Mae West, Ty West, Rawlins Griffin, Wade Griffin, Brantley Griffin, Stella Bryant; brother, Jack Thurman, of Ellijay; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, from the Logan Funeral Home & Chapel with the Rev. Steve Jones officiating.
