Mr. Phillip “Phil” Anthony Simmons, 70, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, May 18,
2021.
He was born March 29, 1951, in Ellijay, to the late Howard and Izora (Pritchett) Simmons.
He owned and operated Simmons Grading in Ellijay and was a member of the American Legion, Blaine Masonic Lodge #534, and Gilmer Bass Club.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army 101 Airborne during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by sons, Mark Simmons, Brad and Heather Simmons, all of Ellijay; brothers, Harold and Martha Simmons, Billy Simmons, all of Ellijay; and sister, Ann and Sammy Dover, of Morganton.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021, at the Logan Funeral Chapel with Minister Butch Jones, and the Rev. Jackie Ellington officiating and the North Georgia Honor Guard officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim Young, Roy Pantoja, Brian Shedd, Gary Engle, Keith Parks, Justin Dover, Kevin Dover and Ermel Southern.
Interment was in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
