William ‘Bill’ Matthew Williams

Mr. William “Bill” Matthew Williams, 86, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021. 

He was born March 12, 1935 to the late Matthew and Etta Lowe Williams in Plains. 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ellijay. He and his wife enjoyed socializing with other hikers and hiked extensively in Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He worked as a veterinarian for Old Mill Farm in Cartersville, a thoroughbred horse farm for several years. 

He is preceded in death by daughter, Emma Jordan. 

He is survived by wife of 45 years, Sandra Stover Williams, of Ellijay; daughters and son-in-law, Anna Williams, of Jacksonville, Fla., Tonya and Mike Farmer, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sons and daughters-in-laws, Matthew and Perri Williams, Houston, Texas, Michael and Audrey Ayres, of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Jacob Farmer, Sam Farmer, Sarah Williams, Sam Williams, Nina Ayres and Altan Ayres; and great-grandchild, Isaac Farmer. 

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Thom Shores officiating. 

Family will receive friends at the narthex of the church from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at First United Methodist Church.
