Helen Spearman

Helen Spearman, 93, born Sept. 10, 1926, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019.  Formerly of Laurens, S.C., Ellijay, and Maiden, N.C.; she has lived the last year at Abernethy Laurels Nursing Home in Newton, N.C.  She is preceded in death by husband, Bob Spearman; and son, John Robert Spearman.

Hugh C. Cobb

Hugh C. Cobb passed away Dec. 4, 2019. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Cartecay  Baptist Church. He is survived by wife, Linda Cobb.

Priscilla Sue Jollay Smith, 72, passed away at her home surrounded by family Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019.  She was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Charles and Mary Louise Jollay.

Steven B. ‘Steve’ Parks

Mr. Steven B. “Steve” Parks, 67, of Ellijay, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at his residence. He was born Feb. 1, 1952, in Ellijay, to Burt Jones Parks and Annie Mae (Woodard) Curtis. He was a 1970 graduate of Gilmer High School, a graduate of Pickens Tech and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Ronald ‘Bodie’ McCollum

Mr. Ronald “Bodie” McCollum, 36, of Ellijay, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2019. He was born July 23, 1983, in Gilmer County to the late Ronald Lamar McCollum Jr. and Mary Ruth Mayfield.  He worked for Southside Express Lube and was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church in McDonough.

Mrs. Lois Godfrey Wright

Mrs. Lois Godfrey Wright, 91, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019. She was born Feb. 22, 1928 in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Preston Godfrey and Rosa Wheeler Godfrey. She was a production worker for many years and a member of Talking Rock Baptist Church.

Bobby Eugene Watts

Mr. Bobby Eugene Watts, 83, of Canton, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019. He was born March 25, 1936, in Gilmer County to the late Franklin Lee and Lena Schular Watts. He was retired from the U.S. Army.

Ms. Joyce Fredia Anderson

Ms. Joyce Fredia Anderson, 68, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, at Parkside Ellijay Skilled Nursing Care. She was born Dec. 26, 1950, in Ellijay, to the late Horace W. and Stella Davenport Parks. She was of the Baptist faith and was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

Deborah Elaine Dockery

Deborah Elaine Ayers Dockery, 59, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, in Gainesville. She was born Feb. 7, 1960, in Stephens County. She was administrator, director of women’s ministry and a member of World Harvest Church North.

Eric Paul Dotson Sr.

Mr. Eric Paul Dotson Sr.,  75, of Woodstock, formerly of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at his residence. He was born July 4, 1944, in Ellijay, to the late C. Tommy and Jewel Miller Dotson.
