Mr. Steven B. “Steve” Parks, 67, of Ellijay, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 1, 1952, in Ellijay, to Burt Jones Parks and Annie Mae (Woodard) Curtis. He was a 1970 graduate of Gilmer High School, a graduate of Pickens Tech and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. 

He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. He was most recently employed and retired from ETC as a service technician.

He is survived by son, Nicholas Johnson Parks; sisters, Diane (Keith) Parks, of Ellijay, Lorena Thompson, of Jasper and Tammy Pruitt, of South Carolina; mother, Annie Mae Curtis; special niece and nephew, Cindy and Matt Chastain, of Ellijay; special “little” nephew, Luke (Kaitlyn) Chastain, of Ellijay; and special friends, Barry Broadwater and Susan James.

Per Steve’s request, no services will be held. 

An inurnment will take place at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Gary Hyde, 156 North Jones Mill Rd. Ellijay, GA 30540, in memory of Mr. Parks.
