A developer who’s bought and renovated a number of buildings in downtown Ellijay and Blue Ridge sees big things for the big red building at 45 South Main Street. Bo Chance, of Blue Ridge, purchased the two-floor downtown Ellijay building late last year.

Ellijay packaged liquor ordinance introduced

An ordinance for the packaged sales of distilled spirits had its first reading as the Ellijay City Council met Monday, Feb. 21. Last November, a small turnout of voters passed a ballot item that asked whether sales of packaged liquor should be allowed inside the city limits.

The Ellijay City Council passed an ordinance for short-term rentals at a well-attended meeting where several citizens had comments and questions. Almost 30 attended the Monday, Feb.

Human remains found

Gilmer County deputies are investigating human remains found in the county by a lineman crew. An Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation crew found the body at 4 a.m., Feb. 18, according to a release.
