Gilmer County deputies are investigating human remains found in the county by a lineman crew.
An Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation crew found the body at 4 a.m., Feb. 18, according to a release.
“They were out walking the line to figure out why there was no power,” said Gilmer County Captain Frank Copeland.
The body was 100 yards into the woods off Hudson-Martin Road and is believed to be male.
At this point, the remains have not been identified and have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation lab for identification.
No cause of death is known, but Copeland said there is no obvious reason to suspect foul play. The investigation is ongoing.
