My name is Don Callihan, and I am the Mayor of the City of East Ellijay.  I was sworn in as mayor after the passing of our long-time Mayor Mack West in February of this year.  I have served on the East Ellijay City Council since 2007 and became the mayor pro tem in 2011.

Assessors strike hiring audit firm

The Gilmer County Board of Assessors ultimately voted to strike a $25,000 expense for hiring an outside company to conduct in-person personal property audits at local businesses, but not without discussing the topic at length during a meeting last week.

Gilmer Health Dept. to host drive-thru flu shot clinic

Local residents will again be able to roll up their sleeves and arm themselves against the flu without having to take both hands off the wheel. The Gilmer County Health Department will host its annual drive-thru flu shot clinic Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the ETC Pavilion on Legion Road.
