The Gilmer Arts Community Chorus (GACC) and instrumentalists will be joined by the Clear Creek Middle School (CCMS) Chorus in presenting a program of Christmas holiday favorites for our community.
The concert will be held at the Ellijay Elementary School Auditorium at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.
The GACC will be conducted by Charles Claiborne and Bruce Graham, both accomplished conductors, educators and adjudicators.
The chorus will be accompanied on piano by Susan Gooch, presently the director of music at Ellijay First United Methodist Church.
The Clear Creek Middle School chorus is under the direction of Adam Palmer, who’s been the choral music teacher at CCMS since it opened 15 years ago.
The concert program will be in two parts with the CCMS chorus performing in between. It will feature musical works by Handel, Rutter, Holst and others along with favorites like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Deck the Halls,” “Love’s Pure Light,” “Silent Night” and “The First Nowell.”
“Carol of the Bells” will be performed by the GACC, while “Believe” (from “The Polar Express”) and “Carry the Light” will be performed by the CCMS chorus.
In addition to Susan Gooch on piano, the other instrumentalists lending their talents to the program are Chloe Walker, Michael Cornett, Chad Halbrook and Martie Ansorge.
Tickets for the concert at available from chorus members, online at GilmerArts.com, at the Gilmer Arts office on Dalton Street, or at the door the day of the concert.
We are doing our part to fight inflation, so tickets are still only $10 (the same as 10 years ago). Children under 12 are free with a parent, and students with ID are only $5. There is no better bargain in a concert experience with a truly family friendly holiday theme.
Make plans today, mark your calendar and join us Dec. 3 for this joint chorus concert. You’ll be glad you did.
